My Summer Sabbatical (Follow Me)

As you may have noticed, I’ve taken a sabbatical from consistent blogging. As family time, summer part time jobs and football camps have taken precedent I’ve taken an extended leave from this blog. I really don’t “feel” like taking the time to contribute any coherent consistent blog thoughts on God, family, and life in general.

Focusing my time on leading and loving my wife and two sons seems like the best choice right now.

I’ll be back in commission at some point. I don’t know when for sure. But the itch to write rarely leaves me for long.

Meanwhile, I’ll devote more free time to reading this summer rather than writing. I want to keep a steady balanced diet of fiction and nonfiction works. First up is Jared C. Wilson’s Christological examination “Your Jesus Is Too Safe.” Next, I plan to finally finish off Leif Enger’s “Peace Like a River.” I’ll see where the summer wind blows me after those (I have a slight addiction of purchasing books I never get around to reading).

I’d also be honored if you follow me on Twitter. I may not have the mental fortitude right now to daily blog, but I can manage to tweet a few daily random blurbs in 140 characters or less. Probably half of my tweets are serious theological musings, the other half trite tongue in cheek snarks about current events. Excuse my sarcasm in advance.

Thank you guys for your continued involvement and encouragement on my little corner of the blogosphere. I’ll see you around soon.

The grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.

  1. “Probably half of my tweets are serious theological musings, the other half trite tongue in cheek snarks about current events.” Sir, this is one of the many reasons I enjoy your blog (whenever it comes). Peace…R

  2. Everyone needs time for refreshment. One sentence really made me very happy for you~~”Focusing my time on leading and loving my wife and two sons seems like the best choice right now.” The most Godly thing for any man to do! I praise God for men like you, who as husbands/fathers take their God-given role seriously! Enjoy…
I will and have missed your posts—but what you’re doing makes a huge statement to me.
Blessings to you and your beautiful family..

  3. You have expressed my heart exactly. I have rarely felt led lately to blog. God has me filling in at church for our secretary, ministering to some friends in need, loving my family…AND GOING TO GUATEMALA TOMORROW!

I don’t believe we should blog just for the sake of blogging. Aren’t the readers worth more than that? If I’m not Spirit-led, then I feel I should keep away from the keyboard. 🙂

  4. Summertime and the living is easy. Even Jesus rested so he could be rejuvenated and so should you. I’m sure that precious time with your family will give you many inspirations for your journal which will make their way onto your next blog. Enjoy your vacation.

  5. I love my wife and child, but they’re not morning people. From 5:30 or 6 until 8 a.m. or later is my read the Bible/watch the news/blog time each day, usually without interruption. My wife’s “alone time” is after I go to bed in the evening, normally 10 p.m. or so, if I haven’t already fallen asleep in my chair.

Enjoy the break, and we’ll look forward to your return.

  6. I don’t believe there is a better way to spend time than pouring it into your wife and children. For me, it is building into my husband, daughter and her children full time and taking little jaunts to do the same for my son and my other daughter and her family. God blesses our efforts in our families. Enjoy the time!

  7. I will miss your insights. I will follow you as soon as Twitter lifts my ban -:). My “ratios” don’t meet their criteria. In other words, people don’t like me as often as I like them – ha!
